And before that?

This past year has been a challenging one, as we have all had to change and adapt to the COVID-19 pandemic.  The WCA has not been immune to these challenges.  We had to reschedule our annual meeting and party, not once, but twice.  Our Board of Directors and our committees have not been able to meet in person, but rather have grown accustomed to ZOOM meetings and conference calls.  Our participation on your behalf with elected representatives, City officials, and other community members also has been by remote means.  Despite all this, we have continued to take actions that we believe are positively impacting our area.

Our efforts in 2020-2021 included the following:

      Richmond 300 Master Plan
      • Participated in meetings about the Richmond 300 master plan
      • Submitted written comments on the master plan
      • Met one-on-one with City planning staff and elected officials
      • Succeeded in getting some changes to land use categories and other master plan provisions
      Zoning and Development Issues
      • Alerted WCA members about specific development projects
      • Collected comments of WCA members and communicated them to City officials
      • Advocated for changes in some development plans to preserve the special nature of our neighborhoods

      2020 City Council Candidate Meetings
      • Sponsored meetings for WCA members with all three First District candidates
      Regular Interaction with Our City Council Member and Other City Officials
      • Communicated frequently with City Council member and other officials about issues important to our area
      Updates and Helpful Information for WCA Members
      • Sent notices to WCA members about zoning and development issues
      • Sent reminders about First District meetings and other events
      • Created a new, refreshed WCA website – www.westhamptoncitizensassociation.com
