And what did we do last year?

The WCA has dealt with challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic.  We had to reschedule our annual meeting and party in 2020 and 2021, not once, but twice. Our Board of Directors and our committees have not been able to meet in person, but rather have grown accustomed to ZOOM meetings and conference calls. Our interaction on your behalf with elected representatives, city officials, and other community members has been by remote means and has sometimes been difficult. Despite all this, we have continued to take actions that positively impact the west end of the city.

The WCA’s efforts during the 2021-2022 membership year included:

      Annual Meeting and Party on September 8, 2021 at CCV
        • We had a large turn-out with great food and refreshment
        • The Mayor, our City Council member, other elected officials and special guests attended
      Zoning and Development Issues
      • Alerting WCA members about specific development projects
      • Soliciting, collecting, and communicating WCA member comments to City officials
      • Advocating for changes in some development plans to preserve the special nature of our neighborhoods
      Planning for the coming rezoning of the city to achieve Richmond 300 goals

      2021 House of Delegates Candidate Meetings
      • Sponsored ZOOM meetings for WCA members with the three First District candidates
      Regular Interaction with Our City Council Member and Other City Officials
      • Frequent communication with City Council member and other officials about issues important to our area
      Updates and Helpful Information for WCA Members
      • Notices to WCA members about zoning and development issues
      • Reminders about First District meetings and other events
      • A new, refreshed WCA website – westhamptoncitizensassociation.com
